Breaking News: Japan in Crisis—Disasters, Chaos, and the Struggle for Survival
Japan has barely recovered from the fear of earthquakes, and now another wave of crises has struck.
Previously it was nature’s wrath—this time, it’s human disaster.
According to reports, random assaults and food poisoning incidents have occurred across the country. Many friends back home sent messages and news clips asking if I was safe.
A chill ran down my spine.
After living in Japan for over two years, I’ve just realized how dangerous this place is. Between natural and human-made disasters, my family and I seem to be living in constant peril.
Indeed, Japan’s so-called “public safety” might be overrated.
This country has seen countless horrifying crimes: the Roller Coaster Murder, the Bandaged Man Incident in the mountain lodge, the Shinkansen bombing...
And the police? Utterly incompetent. Most crimes are solved by a few elementary and high school students.
That’s not all. Japan constantly faces mysterious disasters and even supernatural occurrences.
Recently in Shinjuku, curses and sorcerers battled in the streets, leaving chaos and casualties behind. Rumor has it that aliens—“angels” or “apostles”—are preparing to attack Japan next. Deep in the mountains, massive robots are supposedly on standby to defend humanity. The damage when this happens will be unimaginable.
Life here isn’t just about surviving danger—it’s about enduring hardship.
Prices are soaring: rice now costs nearly 20 yuan per jin. Without government subsidies, we could barely afford food.
Electricity bills have exploded—we barely dare to turn on the lights. My kid does homework by candlelight.
We buy secondhand clothes and used bags. Owning a car is a luxury because parking fees are sky-high. We walk or cycle everywhere.
Life here is just too hard.
…Okay, I can’t keep this up anymore.
Golden Week is coming—just kidding!
Japan is perfectly fine. But for your own safety, maybe don’t come here on holiday—just in case! 😉
